This volume completes the trilogy (LUS 1/I, 1/II, 1/III) on the universal dimension of APPREHENSION. It explains how language grasps and represents concepts that correspond to objects or items. It is an attempt to give an explicit, systematic and comprehensive picture of the natural order of a vast array of linguistic structures which differ considerably in form and meaning, and yet appear as variant options corresponding to the invariant theme of "object".
The previously published volumes 1/I and 1/II survey the entire range and the order of the relevant phenomena as they appear in a sizable number of individual languages. This is now complemented by a volume 1/III that makes explicit the model and the theory which is the basis ob it all. It incorporates and epitomizes the latest developments in UNITYP model building with its growing emphasis on interdisciplinary aspects.
In this sense the volume addresses a public composed both of professional linguists and interested practitioners of adjacent sciences including logic, philosophy, developmental psychology, computer sciences, and neuro-sciences.
